What types of home inspector insurance are needed for your business?

Errors and Omissions Insurance (E&O), also called Professional Liability Insurance, is a common type of Home Inspector insurance and it protects home inspectors in claims arising from allegations of wrongful acts, errors and omissions in home inspections. This type of Home Inspector's insurance covers any court costs and settlements up to the amount specified on the insurance contract. (Click here to view rates)

General Liability Insurance protects the insured home inspector in the event that he or she is sued for damage caused to the home or property being inspected or if someone is injured through the home inspector's actions or inactions while on the job.

BIPD Coverage--or Contingent Bodily Injury (BI) and Property Damage (PD) coverage is very similar to general liability and provides premises coverage for bodily injury and property damage claims that arise out of incidents that occur while the inspector is at the job site. (Example: knocking over a vase. And for any Bodily Injury or Property Damage that result after the inspection. Example: deck falls off the house one month after an inspection.)
